In 2007, Portland City Council and the Multnomah County Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution to reduce local carbon emissions 80 percent by 2050. Achieving this goal is not something government can do alone: We need to work together with every resident and business to make fundamental changes to help us reach the 2050 goal.
We are working to achieve this goal by encouraging residents and businesses in the Portland metro area to choose renewable energy, and we are installing renewable energy systems on our own public facilities. As it turns out, there has never been a better time to go solar at your home and business. Tax credits from the State of Oregon and the Federal government, in addition to cash incentives from Energy Trust of Oregon, make it easy on your pocketbook to go solar.
We hope that by using the Oregon Clean Energy Map that you will consider going solar. You can get started by attending a workshop, finding a contractor, and learning about the State and Federal tax credits using the resources on this site. Solar is a long-term investment in you home or business. By going solar, you will join hundreds of forward-thinking residents and business owners leading the way to energy independence while helping the City of Portland and Multnomah County meet its carbon reduction goals.
